10 Fun Things to Do in Taipei At Night

Taipei comes alive at night with endless things to see, eat, and experience.
If you are researching your trip to Taipei and looking for fun activities at night, this post is for you.
I’m Grace, a Taiwan native who now lives abroad but comes back often. I’ve spent countless nights exploring the city, and I’m here to share the best nighttime activities to make your trip unforgettable.
Here are 10 of the best things to do in Taipei at night to make the most of your trip.
10 Fun Nighttime Activities In Taipei
1. Explore a Night Market
Taiwan is famous for its street food, and no trip to Taipei is complete without visiting a night market. Here are 3 of the best night markets in Taipei and their must-try foods:
Shilin Night Market (士林夜市)
See it on Google Maps.
This is Taipei’s largest and most famous night market, offering food, shopping, and entertainment. It’s a must-visit spot for locals and tourists alike.
Some of their most famous foods are: Hot-Star large fried chicken (豪大大雞排), Shilin sausage (士林大香腸), pan-fried buns (上海生煎包), crispy pancake wraps (大餅包小餅), herbal pork rib soup (藥燉排骨), and oyster omelet (蚵仔煎).
Besides delicious food, Shilin Night Market also offers a wide variety of shopping options. You can find all kinds of goods within the market, from clothing and accessories to shoes, hats, and mobile phone accessories.
Ningxia Night Market (寧夏夜市)
See it on Google Maps and its official website.
I know this night market best since my mom’s apartment is nearby, and I visit often. I like its layout—just one block of the street, making it easy to navigate. Their website even includes descriptions of each stall, so be sure to check it out.
We always try to get there right when it opens around 5 PM to beat the crowd. As for the best food? I just go for the stalls with the longest lines!
Ningxia Night Market is more focused on food than entertainment, but my son still managed to play a few rounds of 小彈珠 (pinball game) when we visited last time.

Raohe Night Market (饒河夜市)
See it on Google Maps.
Its the oldest tourist night market in Taipei. While not very large, it has a well-organized layout with tightly packed stalls.
Here are just a few of the must-try foods: The Michelin-recommended oyster vermicelli (蚵仔麵線), herbal pork rib soup (藥燉排骨), Dongshan duck heads (東山鴨頭), fresh crab legs and crab meat (蟹腳蟹肉), and traditional tofu pudding (古早味豆花) are just a few of the many delicious options waiting for you.
2. Go Shrimp Fishing
If you’re up for something unique, try shrimp fishing at one of Taipei’s 24-hour indoor shrimping pools.
It’s part game, part dining experience—catch your own shrimp, grill them fresh, and enjoy your late-night feast. It’s a fun, local activity you won’t find in many other places.
I have an in-depth article about shrimp fishing, if you are interested in learning more.

3. Sing at a KTV (Private Karaoke Room)
If you’re visiting with a group of friends, don’t miss the chance to sing at a KTV (private karaoke room)—one of the most popular nighttime activities among young locals.
You book a private room, choose your favorite songs, and sing the night away.
Many KTVs offer food, ranging from snacks to full meals, so you can eat while you sing. Some even have their own “must-order” dishes, such as crispy fried chicken, stir-fried noodles, or seafood porridge, making the experience even more fun.
Two of the most popular chains in Taipei are Holiday KTV (好樂迪) and PartyWorld (錢櫃), both with multiple locations across the city.
4. Visit Taipei’s Best Bars
Looking for a great drink? Taipei’s bar scene has everything from craft cocktails to rooftop lounges. Head to Da’an or Xinyi for hidden speakeasies, lively pubs, or upscale bars with stunning city views.
Since I have not gone to a bar in Taipei for quite a while, I compiled a list of popular bars in Taipei with their links to Google Maps:

5. Eat At A Stir-Fry Restaurant (熱炒店)
If you want to eat like a local, head to a stir-fry restaurant (熱炒店 rechao).
I’m going to recommend the one that is in my mom’s neighborhood in Zhongshan District: Gandou (港都熱炒)
My favorite dishes are three-cup chicken (三杯雞), clams in basil sauce (塔香海瓜子), and crispy pork intestines (脆皮肥腸), to name a few. And, of course, I always pair my meal with an ice-cold Taiwan Beer!

Here are other popular restaurants with great reviews, along with their Google Maps links:
6. Attend a Baseball Game
Are you a baseball fan?
If you’re visiting Taipei and want to catch a baseball game, check if there’s one happening at Taipei Dome (台北大巨蛋). Conveniently located near MRT Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall Station (國父紀念館站, B17 on the Blue Line), it’s easy to get to. Plus, as a brand-new indoor stadium, you won’t have to worry about the weather.

There are currently 6 professional teams in the league. Popular teams like the Rakuten Monkeys (樂天桃猿), CTBC Brothers (中信兄弟), Uni-President 7-Eleven Lions (統一7-ELEVEn獅) have passionate fan bases, with coordinated chants, drumbeats, making the game feel like a party.
You can visit the league’s official website to check the schedule and access individual team websites for ticket information.
7. Ride the Miramar Ferris Wheel (美麗華摩天輪)
For a relaxing experience, take a ride on the Miramar Ferris Wheel in Neihu.
It lights up beautifully at night and offers amazing views of the Taipei skyline. It’s a great activity whether you’re traveling solo, with friends, or on a date.
Miramar Ferris Wheel is located at Miramar Entertainment Park (美麗華百樂園) in Neihu District. Take the Wenhu Line (Brown Line) to Jiannan Road Station (劍南路站, BR15). Exit the station, and it’s just a short 3-minute walk to Miramar Entertainment Park.
There’s a shopping mall right next to it, so you can arrive early in the evening, enjoy dinner, and then take a ride on the Ferris wheel.

8. Ride the Maokong Gondola at Night
The Maokong Gondola gives you a breathtaking view of Taipei at night as you ride up the mountain to Maokong, a tea-growing area. Once at the top, you can sip tea at a hillside teahouse while taking in the twinkling city lights. It’s a peaceful escape from the busy streets below.
You can also pair your visit with Taipei Zoo, which is right next to the gondola station. Spend the day at the zoo, then take the gondola up to Maokong for dinner and tea with a view. There are plenty of restaurants at the top, so you won’t go hungry.
Getting there is easy—take the Wenhu Line (Brown Line) to MRT Taipei Zoo Station (動物園站, BR01). From there, it’s just a short walk to the gondola station.
9. Cycle Along the Riverside Parks
Taipei’s riverside parks are well-lit and perfect for a relaxing nighttime bike ride. Rent a YouBike and follow the trails along the river. You’ll pass scenic bridges, quiet green spaces, and some great photo spots along the way.
These two are the best riverside parks to enjoy the night:
Dajia Riverside Park (大佳河濱公園)
Located along the Keelung River, this park features expansive green spaces and a well-maintained bike path. At night, the illuminated bridges and city skyline create a picturesque backdrop for cyclists. (Google Maps)
Meiti Riverside Park (美堤河濱公園)
Situated in the Zhongshan District, Meiti Riverside Park offers stunning views of Taipei 101, the Keelung River, and nearby landmarks. It’s a popular spot for evening picnics and leisurely bike rides, especially during sunset and nighttime. (Google Maps)
10. Explore the Xinyi Shopping District

If you love shopping and city vibes, Xinyi is the place to be at night. The area around Taipei 101 is packed with malls, restaurants, and rooftop bars. Most malls and department stores are open until 10:00pm.
I have a stand-alone post about Xinyi Shopping District, if you would like to learn more.
Final Thoughts
Taipei truly comes alive at night, offering everything from bustling night markets to scenic gondola rides and lively bars. Personally, I love the mix of traditional and modern—grabbing street food at a night market, singing my heart out at KTV, or enjoying a quiet tea with a view at Maokong.
If you’re planning your nights in Taipei, I hope this list gives you some ideas. Pick an activity (or a few) and go experience Taipei after dark! Which one are you most excited to try?
